Shake It Off!
Wow! That is all I can say about the things I heard about myself today. In the interest of not creating drama, I won’t go into details but I was truly surprised by the anger and resentment I was made aware of today.
This is not a blog for sympathy though. I am not writing about this because I want you all to reach out and say “Oh, Morgan you are great, its ok,” nope, I am writing this because I think this is a perfect time to talk about not worrying what others think about you. I think the key to happiness and therefor life, is blocking out what the rest of the world says or thinks and focusing on what God thinks of you. God LOVES all of us like we are the most important thing in the world and THAT is all that matters.
I know that might sound trite and over simplified and honestly it does to me too. I know some of you might not even buy the whole God thing but hear me out anyway. No matter what your beliefs about a higher being are, you need to realize that other people’s opinions really don’t matter as long as you are doing your very best to be the best person you can. I don’t know about you but I find myself caring way too much about people’s opinion of me and most of the time I don’t even like the people anyway. It is amazing how much time I will spend dwelling on a bad review or a nasty comment from someone I don’t even like. Talk about a waste of time and energy.
I struggle with this all of the time. I am way to concerned with what others think of me and part of my goal with this blog is to bring light to all of my shortcomings so that I can stop worrying and live free from care about other’s opinions. I also hope that I can help at least one of you shake off the burden of the world’s opinions too. Now I am not saying that anyone can just go around being a jerk because that is what makes them feel good, no I believe that we are supposed to love others as ourselves and if you are doing your best to live that way then what other people think or say shouldn’t matter. And here is the reason.
The creator of everything we know LOVES you and me. He absolutely adores us. I mean seriously, that is awesome. God, the guy who made the galaxy, thinks the world of you! So if that is true, and I honestly believe it is, then what does @bigpappa43’s opinion of you really mean? (not a real person and if by some chance it is, I am so sorry) I don’t think that he made anything nearly as cool as the planet we live on and I know for a fact that he didn’t make you so who gives a flip about his opinion or anyone else who is hating on you or what you are trying to accomplish in your life. That doesn’t mean that you aren’t going to make mistakes and deserve some rebuke from people from time to time. We are, after all, human and we all screw up and there are consequences to our actions. But if you are trying your hardest to love others and bring something good to this world then you need to shut out the haters and the critics. This doesn’t mean to surround yourself with yes men and women either. We all need constructive criticism so that we can grow and get better. I am talking about the people who just spew anger and resentment because they have nothing better to do and they feel better when they make others feel bad. Those people and their opinions don’t deserve ANY real estate in your head so evict them! And like T Swift says… “Shake It Off!!”
Thank you for tuning in again. And thank you for reading this rant. I wrote it to myself as much as to anyone else who reads it. I need to be reminded of this stuff as much if not more than anyone else I know. I get so wrapped up in other people’s opinions and I hate it.
Now if you can’t buy into the whole God, Jesus thing then I would love to talk to you about why I do believe with my entire being that God created everything we know and that His Son Jesus Christ paid for all of our sins. I am, by far, no expert but I have lived through enough by now and have seen his work in my life so many times that I can confidently say that He is real and that He LOVES us! I didn’t always believe and for a long time I turned very far from God so I can relate to just about every viewpoint out there. So… If you want to talk or email or text then feel free to reach out. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org, my phone number is 970-275-2261 or you can message me on Facebook. Also if you need to just vent, reach out!
Have a great day today and be thankful, that is a great first step to having a great day!
